Infosys wins INR 1,380 crore contract to build GST technology network
India has awarded a contract worth INR 1,380 crore to Infosys Ltd to build and maintain the technology network crucial for implementing the proposed goods and services tax (GST) system across the country for five years, an official aware of the matter said.

The finance minister said it was not necessary to implement the new regime from 1 April 2016 itself and since it is a transactional tax, it can come into effect from the first date of any other month also.

Report on uniform GST rate by month-end; CBEC member says rollout possible next year

State FMs to meet on Sept 15 to finalise GST model legislations
The two legislations - Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST) - will have to be approved by respective state legislatures for a nation-wide rollout of the single rate GST. States would also have to approve IGST, which will deal with the inter-state movement of goods and services.

Did you know? Renaming of DGST and change of headquarters
The CBEC has created a GST Directorate in Delhi by shifting the headquarters of the Directorate General of Service Tax (DGST) from Mumbai to Delhi. Also, the DGST has been renamed Directorate General of Goods and Service Tax (DGGST) with effect from 1 August 2015.
