During the year 2007 the SKP
group, through the initiative of its Founder and Chairperson‐ Sudit K
Parekh, adopted an orphanage at
Badlapur, run by Mr. Ramesh
Kukreja of the Shayadri Nisarg
Jeevan Sanstha. Since then the
employees and the management
of SKP have contributed
generously towards the upkeep of
the orphanage, now named
Vrindavan
SKP’s Cultural Club has also organised repeated visits to the
Ashram (Shelter) in an attempt to garner further interest among
employees towards this noble
cause. Those who did make time
to visit the remotely located
Ashram, were far from
disappointed.
Ashok Pandey, the admin‐incharge
of SKP’s Mumbai office,
clearly wished more of his
colleagues had joined him. Sharing
his experience he said, “Amidst the
lush greenery of the Ashram I
experienced a peace and serenity,
unknown in our city life. Besides,
the generous affection bestowed on us by the
children and the
Kukreja family
left me wanting
to visit the
Ashram again,
hopefully with
many more of
my colleagues.”
Gaurav Shah from International Tax was all praise for Mr. Kukreja,
the driving force behind the
Vrindavan project. “Mr. Ramesh
Kukreja, the founder of Vrindavan
Ashram is an embodiment of the
Indian saying ‘atithi devo bhava’‐
(which translates to God dwells in
every Guest). The warmth with
which he treated us made us feel
very welcome. In fact it is this
unbiased affection which he
liberally bestows on all the
children that makes the Ashram
feel like Home to the orphaned
kids,” said Gaurav.
Interestingly all the SKP
enthusiasts who made it to
Badlapur felt that in spite of lacking in material comforts, the
children of Vrindavan abounded in
a sheer joy of life, that somehow
dwarfed their own material
pursuits. Reflecting these
sentiments Vandana Shah from
the International Tax team said, ‘Our presence in the Ashram had
the kids all excited. They seemed
to be bursting with joy, happiness,
excitement… and despite our
initial uneasiness we were easily
infected.”
The unanimous opinion was that
these kids deserved much more…
and so SKP’s involvement with
Vrindavan continues. |
