GST certainly doable in 2016; in constant touch with Congress: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley
Rolling out the ambitious GST regime is certainly doable in 2016, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on 28 December 2015, adding that he is in "continuous touch" with the Congress party in a bid to persuade them to cooperate.

Winter session of Parliament ends; GST remains pending

GST model law will be ready by January
The model law of the
much-anticipated GST will be out by the end of January for general public for feedback. Speaking at a session on GST, Sushil Solanki, Principal Additional Director General (ADG) of the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence said that 80% of the draft of GST is ready while discussions on the remaining 20% are going on.

Over 48,000 including top industrialists sign petition for GST
Over 48,000 people, including prominent industrialists, have supported a signature campaign launched by the Confederation of Indian Industry urging members of Parliament to allow the passage of the GST Bill, even as the winter session came to an end on 23 December 2015.
